Eastwood calls on parties to restore devolution to deliver fair pay deal

SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood MLA has called on parties to show courage, set aside their differences and restore power sharing to deliver a fair pay deal for those who have worked tirelessly to keep our health service running. He said that restoring pay parity for health service staff must be a political priority. The SDLP previously voted against budgets which breached parity.

Durkan: more than 10,000 patients in distress due to appointment cancellations

SDLP Health Spokesperson, Mark H Durkan, has expressed concern that 10,000 patients across Northern Ireland have been left in distress due to the cancellation of medical appointments across the North. Mr Durkan said “it is nothing short of a disgrace that in the mouth of Christmas, thousands of medical appointments have been cancelled, causing significant anxiety to families across the North.”

Hanna: Tories cannot be trusted with NHS

SDLP South Belfast MLA and Westminster candidate Claire Hanna has said that papers produced by the Labour Party today show that US pharmaceutical companies are attempting to gain total market access to the NHS as part of a Brexit trade deal. Claire Hanna said that the only way to protect our health service from private sector profiteers is to elect MPs who will vote against it.
