Durkan welcomes Transport NI action in Drumahoe
He said: “I arranged a meeting with TransportNI representatives and the PSNI following contact from a number of residents in the Old School Field Area of Drumahoe regarding traffic concerns.
“Residents were very concerned after vehicles, particularly large lorries were parking at the bus stop and in some cases on the footpath. This seriously impacted on the ability of residents to get out onto what is already a very busy road on the main Derry-Belfast route. These concerns were compounded by a recent inexplicable decision to increase the speed limit through Drumahoe from 30 mph to 40mph.
“Following the site meeting, I am pleased that TransportNI have agreed to take action to rectify the situation at the bus stop for residents and will re-examine the speed limit in the area.”
