McGlone calls on Invest NI to address concerns over sponsorship of pro-Brexit event
Mr McGlone said, "I find it incomprehensible that Invest NI would try and argue any benefit to people in the North came from this pro-Brexit event. They face serious questions about it.
"First and foremost Invest NI has publicly ignored the business community and indeed the wider community by sponsoring it. Public money was used by a jobs creation agency to support a political event which if successful would ultimately result in the loss of tens of thousands of jobs and billions of pounds to communities right across Northern Ireland.
The SDLP Assembly candidate for Mid Ulster added, "It is also wholly at odds with the statement released by Invest NI that it would not be engaging in the EU Referendum debate, which is in itself a ridiculous position given that this is undeniably one of the most important debates in a generation.
"This week the IMF warned leaving the EU could cause severe regional and global damage, disrupt trading relationships and cause major challenges. We already have major challenges creating jobs for those who no longer have a future at Bombardier, Michelin or JTI Gallaher. Invest NI would do better backing them and others who face an uncertain future as a result of the risks of Brexit."
