Eastwood: Space needed for a new deal

SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood has said the the collapse of the all-party talks at Stormont comes as a result of an unwillingness to engage in creative compromise on key elements of former agreements. Mr Eastwood called on the Secretary of State to create space immediately for a reconvened and refreshed process.

Ritchie: Case for reducing tourism VAT is overwhelming

SDLP South Down MP and chairperson of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Visitor Economy Margaret Ritchie has welcomed a call from the Northern Ireland Affairs Select Committee to reduce Tourism VAT to 9%. Ms Ritchie has been campaigning for a reduction in VAT on tourism and hospitality products for a number of years as a way to enhance the local economy.
