Eastwood: Cast iron commitment to no hardening of the border vital

SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood has said ‘sufficient progress’ in Phase 1 of the Brexit negotiations can only be reached if there is sufficient clarity that there will be no hardening of the border in Ireland. Mr Eastwood said the only practical economic and regulatory solution was for Northern Ireland to remain part of the single market and the customs union. Mr Eastwood commented that the further this Brexit negotiation goes on, the greater the clarity of that solution becomes.

Hume film to get advance screening in Belfast

A new documentary charting the extraordinary work of former SDLP Leader and Nobel Laureate John Hume to secure peace in Ireland will receive an advanced screening in Belfast today (Thursday 16th November 2017). Narrated by Liam Neeson, the film ‘In the Name of Peace: John Hume in America’, documents how Hume, inspired by Martin Luther King, enlisted American Presidents from Carter to Clinton to end conflict in Ireland.
