McCrossan: Clarity needed over A5 project
Mr McCrossan said:
“In light of the High Court decision yesterday regarding the Hightown Incinerator, I have written to the Head of the Civil Service to seek clarification about the future delivery of the A5, which remains one of the most critical infrastructure projects on this island.
“This decision has called into question the validity of any decisions made by the Civil Service during the political impasse and this is why it is essential that we get clarity about the future of the A5.
“The A5 project is hugely important for West Tyrone as well as the wider North West. It is absolutely imperative that there are no more delays in this critical infrastructure project after years of broken promises and non-delivery. Therefore, the only solution to ensure the delivery of this project is for politicians to get back to work.
“This is yet another example of why it is essential that the British Irish Intergovernmental Conference is re-convened, to agree a package of legislation to overcome the issues that are preventing the restoration of devolution. This is the only clear roadmap back to the restoration of the Assembly. Local decisions should be taken by local Ministers. It is time for the institutions to be back up and running and to deliver for people right across the North.”
