SDLP Economic Conference: ‘The Economy - What Now?’

Location:
Ramada Hotel, Belfast
Date:
Thursday, 27 June 2013

Many questions remain unanswered about our Economy – particularly what are the Plan “B” alternatives to Corporation Tax. And now that the dust has settled after the G8 and recent announcements around investment the SDLP feels it is important to take stock about where our Economy goes from here.

The SDLP has been engaged in a consultation exercise with businesses, unions and the voluntary sector and has decided to hold a major conference examining the issue of what happens now and what will Plan “B” look like.

Among those addressing the conference will be Stephen Kingon ,formerly INI, Peter Bunting ICTU, and contributors from CBI, IoD, Chamber of Commerce, NICVA among others. There will also be a keynote speech by Environment Minister Alex Attwood.

Themes will include Rebalancing the Economy, Growing Jobs and Exporting Product and Adressing the Skills Deficit. We believe that this will be an exciting conference highlighting, even in the midst of a recession, areas of hope for future generations on this island.
