Dobbins: Derry backs Autism Awareness
The Ballyarent Councillor said:
"Last year I brought a motion to council encouraging all of us to raise awareness of Autism and its complexities. I am pleased that it has been wholeheartedly embraced by council staff and businesses throughout the city. This was evident with the success of last weekend when the Guildhall held an Autism friendly day for those with complex needs and their families to enjoy the funfilled activities. Those involved in the organization of the event must be commended.
"The local Autism support group POCA have also launched the opening of a gallery in the Richmond Centre. While it will be only opened for a week, it showcases the artistic prowess of some of our children with Autism.
"I would encourage everyone to get involved to help break the stigma associated with Autism and in doing so will help highlight the need for provision and support for these children and their families.”
