Councillor Martin Reilly first joined Derry City Council in 2004 and was Mayor of Derry in 2013 during the City of Culture celebrations.

During his time on the council, Martin has been a member of council committee from Environmental Services to Development, from Airport to Audit. A former Chair of the Environmental Services, Regional Services and Development Committees Martin has also represented Derry City Council throughout Ireland, Great Britain and further afield.

He has also served on the District Policing Partnership, Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau, the Patient Client Council, the City Centre Initiative.

Originally from Fermanagh, Martin graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2000 with a BA (Hons) in History and Politics and was elected to the one year Sabbatical Queens Students’ Union Vice President Education position for the following year. He left QUBSU at the end of this post in 2001 to work for the SDLP Foyle MLAs Mark Durkan and John Tierney.

 Martin has been married to Bronagh since 2008.
