De Faoite: no place for hate in Rosetta

SDLP Lisnasharragh Councillor, Seamas de Faoite has condemned the appearance of fascist symbols in the Rosetta area of South Belfast.

“Over the last three months, people across Rosetta and Glencregagh have pulled together in the spirit of community, to look out for each other and help the vulnerable. The appearance of fascist symbols on our streets strikes against all of that, in a clear attempt to intimidate. I utterly condemn those responsible.”

There is no space for the politics of hate or fear in Rosetta, or across our city. Working with local residents, these banners have now been removed and I have referred the issue to the PSNI.

Councillor de Faoite added:

“As a community we will continue to look out for each other at this difficult time, providing support to the vulnerable and friendship to everyone in our area who is struggling. Hate will not win.”
