From Katesbridge, Seamus Doyle is the SDLP Group Leader on Banbridge District Council with 24 years’ experience, having first been elected to Banbridge Council in 1989, rising to position of Chairman in 1999.

Seamus currently sits on the council’s Policy and Resources and Planning Committees and chairs the Southern Group Building Control Cluster, the Leisure and Development Committee and Audit Committees.

He also sits on a number of enterprise organisations in his local area, including Gilford Forum, Rathfriland Regeneration, Down Rural Partnership, Destination Mournes and Mourne Health Trust.

Outside of politics, Seamus has a keen interest in GAA and is involved in a number of local GAA clubs, and enjoys fishing in his spare time.

Seamus is married, with three children and has five grandchildren.
